It has come to my attention that it is Shark Week, so here is a watercolor shark.

November News

Two of my paintings were accepted into the Ocean City Arts Center‘s Annual Juried Art Show. I also have a few pieces showing at the Ocean City Fine Arts League‘s Anything Goes Show. Both receptions are this Friday evening, so if you’re in the area please stop in.

Wish We Were Here

Sadly, the summer is winding down. Evenings Along Asbury in Ocean City is my favorite part of summers in NJ. This week was the last Evening Along Asbury of 2011. It was a great summer. Can’t wait until next year.

I painted the exterior of Jon and Patty’s Coffee Bar and Bistro. The owners of this establishment donated prizes to the Arts League every week. Support local businesses that support the arts!

Shore View

It pains me to admit that the summer is almost gone. Next week will be the last Evenings Along Asbury of 2011. It’s been a beautiful year for plein air painting. This week’s work:

Asbury Avenue. Watercolor and ink on paper. 6″ x 4.5″.

Unframed: $150.00

Corner Store

Below is last night’s weekly Ocean City painting.

Store Down the Shore

This watercolor painting of a Jersey shore store front won first place in the July 6th Ocean City Paint Out. Shop windows in vacation towns are always eye catching. Something about that orange dress demanded to be painted.

Down the Shore Store. Watercolor and Ink on paper. 7″ x 6″ (17.8 cm x 15.2 cm).

Feel free to join me at next Wednesday’s Evenings Along Asbury plein air painting event.

Evenings Along Asbury

Last night was the first Evenings Along Asbury of the summer. Besides great community events, every Wednesday throughout the summer there is a plein air event in Ocean City. Through this paint out I have met fantastic local artists like Ryan Simmons, Chuck Law, and Martini.

As an artist, most of what I create is done in solitude. Evenings Along Asbury gives me a chance to work adjacent to other painters for an entire season. Needless to say, I look forward to it all year. It is refreshing to see the downtown come together for the sake of the arts.

The following piece was painted last night between 5 and 7:30 pm. It won third place in the first Ocean City Fine Arts paint out of 2011.

Sunset. Watercolor and Ink on paper. 7″ x 6″ (17.8 cm x 15.2 cm).

Unframed: $200.00

The Rabbit

This adorable home is my last plein air painting of the season.

Le Lapin. Watercolor and ink on paper. 9″x12″.

Gabrielle and Co.

For my last plein air painting in Ocean City, NJ this summer I painted Gabrielle and Co.‘s store front. As their slogan says, the store is a “fabulous collection of beautiful things.” If you’re ever in Ocean City I suggest checking it out. Also, a new branch has just opened up in Hammonton, NJ. Stop by and say hi to Julie for me.

Across the Street

Asbury Avenue in Ocean City NJ has an out door painting competition every Wednesday of the summer.  This past Wednesday I won second place with this painting. The painting was a particular challenge as I chose to sit across the street from the buildings I painted. Large vehicles kept parking in front of my subject matter. I learned a valuable lesson about vantage point.

Across the Street. Watercolor and ink on paper. 8.5″ x 5″.
