Last week was Dog Week over in /r/sketchdaily. I was able to contribute this English mastiff and corgi. And who says Reddit hinders production?

I started creating video game art on a whim. I felt that I had been taking my subject matter too seriously. By painting something I considered fun, and something that had already been pre designed, I could just let myself play. It’s been almost three years since my first geek culture inspired piece. Now, prints of these watercolors are my best selling creations. If you’re interested in picking up a few prints of your own, visit my Etsy shop. I’m offering free shipping until Decmeber 17th, 2012. Just use coupon code FREESHIP at check out.
Here are a few of my most recent nerd excursions. The Cammy piece won the Etsy Gamers Game of the Month Challenge for November 2012.
I’m including this last photo to illustrate how small these video game inspired works are as originals. The prints are 5″ x 7″.

This morning I had the privilege of painting the Atlantic City Ballet as they rehearsed. The company’s beauty absolutely stunned me. Their skill, dedication, elegance, and joy truly moved me. It is my deep hope to work with them again.
As this was a rehearsal, I worked as they danced. These sketches are fast, wet, and unrefined.

I used to be a regular at Dr. Sketchy’s Philadelphia. Since my 2009 move, I have been slacking in my duties as an art monkey. Yesterday, I attended my first Dr. Sketchy’s South Jersey. It was held at the Artist’s Consortium in Millville. Our model was the bold and beautiful Chi Chi Rodriguez. It was an honor to work with Chi Chi, as she will be competing in Atlantic City’s upcoming Miss’d America Pageant.

Museum Mannequin. Watercolor and ink on paper. 5″ x 8.5″.
Unframed: $150.00
I am very proud to announce I won the 2010 Cumberland County Cultural Heritage Plein Air Painting Contest. The awards ceremony will be at Gallery 50 in Bridgeton from 6-8 this Friday. The paintings I did for the competition have not yet been posted to this blog as they were dropped off immediately after painted. I will get them back in late September for your viewing pleasure.
Also, my painting “Product Placement” won Best in Show at The Hammonton Art Center‘s yearly Works on Paper exhibit. The reception for the exhibit will be tomorrow evening, 5-8 pm at the HAC.
I am very grateful for and proud of these honors.
